We are so excited to finally announce our COMMUNITY MURAL PROGRAM. This is something we have wanted to bring to life for a long time!
The 1520 Arts Community Mural Program is designed to give emerging artists a chance to create real projects and gain real experience. And we support these artists by providing them an opportunity to produce a small-scale mural project.
Often times artisits find themselves in the situation of "you need to have experience to get experience". This can make it hard to grow as a professional artist. We want to help with that. AND MAKE COOL ART!

This initiative is intended to help artists refine their craft in a real-world context, contribute to the public art landscape, and strengthen their portfolios for future work.

For the program, artists are provided with a 12x12' wall at our facility for them to create a mural project. In addition to the wall, 1520 Arts provides some resources and a $500 stipend.
Once completed, the mural serves as an example of a real project created for a real client. The process and outcome can be used by the artist to build a portfolio that will help them get more work.
The mural will change several times through out the year, allowing us to support more artists. Because the wall faces the street, it's really fun to be able to showcase something new and interesting every few months.
