ALL OUT 2012 is only a few days away, so I’d like to take some time to blog about the judges and the judging system. An All Styles battle is a very fun competition to watch. It combines the best of hip hop, house, bboying, choreo, jazz, contemporary, 90’s and pretty much any other type of dance you can think of. And with the 2 v 2 format you can expect to see some really extraordinary things. However all of this can make judging an event very difficult. How do you match these different styles against each other and judge them correctly? Well we’ve taken a lot of time to make sure we do it correctly and this is what we’ll be looking for.
[blockquote]This is an All Styles competition so the judges are looking for you to be able to do more than one style of dance[/blockquote]
During the battles the DJ will play a song of their choosing. This can literally be anything! The dancers will then have to adapt their dance styles to suit the genre of music. This is an All Styles competition so the judges are looking for you to be able to do more than one style of dance. Ultimately a dancers versatility with be his/her greatest asset.
[blockquote]be original, add something to your movement that no one else does[/blockquote]
The judges will be looking for the dancers to represent the style of music that’s being played. For example a 90’s hip hop track, this can be represented by Bboying, New Jack Swing, or other 90’s dances. The judges will first look to see that you’re dancing within the correct. After that they’ll be looking for cleanliness and complexity in your movement. Lastly, be original, add something to your movement that no one else does.
