So it’s been a week since ALL OUT 2012 and we’ve had some time to recover. The dust has settled and the FOOTAGE is finally up so let’s do a recap of the event for those that missed it.
Friday
[blockquote align=”left”]We have a lot of talent in our state and I think it’s time to step it up to the next level.[/blockquote]We stated off with Brain Green and Tal’s workshops on Friday. The FED has been doing workshops for a long time and we’re happy that we’ve been lucky enough to bring out such incredible teachers. In the past the FED has focused on providing workshops that benefit the beginner as well as the advanced dancer. While these workshops still fit that model, we felt is was time to step it up a bit. Both Brian’s and Tal’s workshops were fast paced and high energy. Both teachers introduced concepts that pushed the dancers into new directions. I don’t think there was anyone (my self included) who wasn’t sore the next day. I’d really like to keep doing workshops like this. We have a lot of talent in our state and I think it’s time to step it up to the next level.
Saturday
Game Time! This year at ALL OUT we focused more on All Styles battles. Last years bboy winners won a trip to Seattle and this year the All Styles winners are going to New York. The North American Qualifier for Juste Debout will take place there and our winners will be going there to compete. The New York winners will go to France for the finals in March. This is our first time sending dancers to this event and we’re excited to see how they do.

[blockquote align=”right”]from the beginning I think it was obvious that all the teams had been training pretty hard before the event[/blockquote]Over 20 teams entered the 2 v 2 All Styles event. The judges made a cut to 16, but from the beginning I think it was obvious that all the teams had been training pretty hard before the event. I personally enjoyed the Top 16 battles, I saw a lot of routines and lots of dancers stepping their game up. DJ Soulrane was always on point with the music, hittin’ the dancers with House, Hip Hop, Top 40, Funk and Breaks. I think the DJ has the ability to make or break an event and we were lucky to have Soulrane come through and give his best.
The Top 4 crews were: DIRTY-D (Gage & Crank), UDO (Micah & De’Von) Ash & Gary (Nosy-T & Monkee) & House of Flava (E-Boogie & Chacho). The semi-final battles were two of the most surprising battles that I’ve seen a long time. House of Flava advanced over UDO on a tie breaker round, E-Boogie over Micah. And Ash & Gary won against Dirty-D.
However, in the end only one team can claim the title and the trip. House of Flava was that team. E-Boogie & Chacho show their ability to do routines as well as house, bboying & popping styles. We congratulate them on the win and are excited to see them dance in New York.

[blockquote align=”left”]Many of the crews made it past pre-lims for the first time and it was easy to see that they were hungry for some recognition.[/blockquote]Like the All Styles, the Bboy Battle had over 20 crews enter. The judges cut it down to sixteen 4 man crews. The Top 16 filled crews from Utah, Nevada & Colorado. There were a lot of well established crews at the jam but I felt the Top 16 was all about the New Gens. Many of the crews made it past pre-lims for the first time and it was easy to see that they were hungry for some recognition. Lack of experience may have kept them from advancing, but the battles were some of the most agressive I’ve seen in awhile, and I like that.
The Top 4 crews were; AOD (Utah), KHZOO (Las Vegas), The Salt (Las Vegas) & Amida (Colorado). The Zoo and Amida would advance to the finals. This final is similar to last years final, KHZOO vs Dance 2 Live, with Amida containing 2 D2L members. In the end KHZOO would come out on top again. We congratulate them and wish them happy spending on their prize money.
